9.45AM - 11AM
We start the day by learning how to import our photos into Lightroom using the optimum settings for a professional workflow. Some time spent learning these invaluable settings will prevent hours of frustration and wasted time later. We'll navigate Lightroom's preferences and shine a light on the 'sensible settings' to remove any mystery or confusion so that you can manage and edit your photos, confident in the knowledge you are using a tried and tested professional workflow. Mark Galer's optimised workflow will enable you to work quickly and efficiently so that you can find your files in flash, even when you have long forgotten when and where those files were stored. As a bonus Mark will share his shortcuts
so that your navigation around Lightroom makes you look like a seasoned expert.
11:15AM - 12:30PM
Lightroom lets you process all file formats using the same tool set and it's your skills in the Develop module that will turn your snapshots into great shots. You will learn how the editing tools in this module are vastly superior to the old style adjustment tools such as Levels, Curves and Hue/Saturation. You will learn how to apply Lightroom's sophisticated adjustments both globally and locally using brushes and graduated filters. You will be amazed at how Mark is able to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary in just a few minutes and you will quickly be able to apply these powerful editing techniques to your own photography to unleash the creative potential of each and every image. Plus, Mark will share his developing presets that enable quick and easy grading styles to be applied with just a single click..
12:30PM - 1:30PM
1:30PM - 2:45PM
Lightroom has quickly established itself as the go-to software for most image-editing tasks but there are times when a photographer will need to jump an image into Adobe Photoshop to access the features that are still unique to this software. In this session, you'll learn how Lightroom and Photoshop can work together as partners so that Lightroom can keep tracks of any editing that is being done externally. This seamless workflow using the combined applications is often overlooked by many photographers, but can become another source of constant frustration for those without 'the knowledge'. Using the combined power of Lightroom and Photoshop will enable you to raise the bar of your current creativity. Even if your Photoshop skills are limited Mark will share his Photoshop Actions that enable you to apply sophisticated treatments with just a single click.
In this session we'll also cover the best third party plug-ins that makes light work of difficult editing tasks.
3:00PM - 4:00PM
The Books, Web and Slideshow modules in Lightroom open up exciting new ways for photographers to showcase and sell their work. Everything you need to know in order to create a polished and professional looking photo book will be covered in this session. You'll pick up some great design ideas that will help you design books that are sure to stand out from the crowd.
4.15PM - 5PM
Lightroom's Slideshow and Print modules have powerful tools so that photographers can create client presentations, proof sheets and online galleries that will enable you to showcase your creativity and professionalism. This session will also highlight how Lightroom can easily push images directly to your online social media galleries, communities and forums without ever opening up a web browser. In this final session of the day Mark will also show how Lightroom's Print module can be set up so that predictable, high quality results, are a certainty – every time.
